Our Story
Tacocat started as a late-night idea fueled by hunger, curiosity, and a desire to bring something fun and flavorful to Gardiner, Montana. What began as a tiny food truck parked outside the Blue Goose Saloon — meant to run for just one summer — quickly became a local staple. We opened with a short menu, long nights, and the simple mission to give Gardiner’s late-night crew an alternative to bar snacks and empty stomachs.
The response from our little town was overwhelming.
Locals, river guides, night-shift workers, musicians, travelers — everyone showed up. Gardiner didn’t just support Tacocat; it embraced us. And that love is what allowed us to grow from a summer experiment into The Spot by Tacocat, our brick-and-mortar home in the center of town at the Conoco.
ā
For Angela, as a Colombian Italian - American and long-time naturalist guide, food has always been a storytelling language — a mix of family, culture, and the landscapes that shape us.
In Gardiner, a place where community means everything, those stories matter. Tacocat became more than a taco place; it became a place to gather. A place to warm up after river days and winter storms. A place where locals and travelers sit shoulder-to-shoulder, share stories, and enjoy food that’s comforting and familiar but still carries a spark of something new.
ā
We honor our blend of roots — Montana ingredients, Yellowstone spirit, and a hint of international flavor in the way we season, cook, and celebrate. What started as tacos has grown into bowls, breakfast, grab-and-go meals, and community events that keep Gardiner connected through long winters and wild summers.
ā
Our story is still unfolding.
But one thing has always been true:
Good food + good people = the heart of Gardiner.
